Berkley Public Library Summer of Folk: The Barbarossa Brothers

The Library is rounding out its Summer of Folk series with the Barbarossa Brothers. Drew Pentkowski, Ryan Fitzgerald, and Loren Kranz come together to create "Americana wrapped in a brown paper bag." John Sinkevics, of Grand Rapid's WYCE's Local Spins, calls them a "unique blend of harmony-laden Americana, folk-rock and knee-slapping, acoustic-driven fun."

Downtown Berkley Street Art Fest - Mural Painting

Watch our muralist create masterpieces on several #DowntownBerkley business walls. We have the perfect downtown to showcase murals and our goal is to one day be one of the top destination for murals in the Midwest.

The week's activities will culminate with the Berkley StreetArt Fest on Saturday, July 15th where chalk artists, professionals and amateurs alike, will make the sidewalks of Coolidge and Dorothea into colorful creations.

This is a week of events you won't want to miss!

Art & About - Second Fridays

Every second Friday from 6 to 9 pm - June through October - our new Art & About event will turn Downtown Berkley into a district-wide gallery and performance space. Throughout the District, businesses will host an artist or performer. Fine artists will display and sell their work, performing artist might be playing music, and we even hope to have some street performers and classic cars! In addition, participating businesses will offer beverages and light snacks.

This collaboration of downtown art venues, businesses, and local and regional artists with showcase the diverse business mix found along Coolidge and 12 Mile in #DowntownBerkley

Join us at Elwin and Company, 2971 Coolidge, on Tuesday, June 11th, from 6 pm to 8 pm for our Meet the Muralist event. This is your opportunity to talk to two of Detroit's top street artists, Malt aka Brown Bag Detroit and Paolo Pedini, and learn about the art of mural painting.

The Whiskey Charmers is a Detroit-based roots band led by Carrie Shepard and Lawrence Daversa. The band's songs are filled with haunting melodies that tell stories of the open road, whiskey, and chasing a cure for incurable heartache. No registration needed.
